For over 25 years, Michael McLaren has helped investors achieve their financial goals. He is steadfastly committed to designing comprehensive financial plans for his clients that encompass tax-efficient strategies and thoughtful estate roadmaps.
Michael began his career by obtaining his Life and Disability Insurance (Level 2) licence. From there, he completed the Canadian Investment Funds Course, qualifying him to support clients in mutual funds. He expanded his knowledge further by earning the Canadian Professional Consultant on Aging (CPCA®) designation, as well as the Certified Executor Advisor (CEA) designation.
Michael has developed his practice on the belief that financial planning is a balance of logic and emotion. While he appreciates facts and data and knows these components inform strategies, he also understands clients are influenced by emotion. He embraces both facets by providing a healthy mix of perspective and reassurance, especially during market uncertainty. He also supports efficient decision-making by applying his “rule of 16.” Michael knows it can be tricky for clients to break through the media noise and decipher which financial information should grant their attention. That’s why he doesn’t just read articles — he analyzes them. He dives 16 layers down to uncover the real truth, helping clients stay focused on the bigger picture with insights that actually matter.
Michael applies this same level of care outside of work. Being married for over 40 years is one of his greatest personal accomplishments. He takes pride in his family, consisting of three successful adult children and two grandchildren — all a source of joy and inspiration.
When he’s not supporting clients, Michael plays golf and pickleball. He also enjoys exploring new places. Most recently, he has joined an F45 Training community, keeping wellness at the forefront of his lifestyle.
