A Milestone in My Journey:
Becoming a Portfolio Manager

There are moments in life that mean far more than a new title.

I am incredibly honoured to share that I have officially become a Portfolio Manager.

This achievement has been a long-time dream of mine—not because of the designation itself, but because of what it represents: a commitment to continually learning, growing, and becoming the very best advisor I can be for the families who place their trust in Grace Wealth.

My journey hasn't followed a traditional path. I came to Canada at the age of 23 after a career as a professional Chinese dancer. While the stage taught me discipline and perseverance, I discovered a new passion for helping people achieve financial security. I returned to school to study accounting and personal finance at BCIT, began my career as an Investment Specialist, became a Financial Planner, and eventually founded Grace Wealth with a simple vision—to provide thoughtful, personalized advice that always puts clients first.

Every step of that journey has been guided by one question:

How can I better serve my clients?

Becoming a Portfolio Manager is another important step toward answering that question.

More Than Managing Investments

To me, portfolio management is about protecting what families have spent a lifetime building:

  • Preserving capital
  • Generating sustainable income
  • Protecting client wealth
  • Managing portfolios through every season of the market

The Magnolia Method

These same principles are at the heart of what I call The Magnolia Method.

Like a magnolia tree, lasting wealth is built on strong roots and careful stewardship. A healthy tree doesn't thrive because of one good season—it flourishes because it is nurtured through all four seasons.

The same is true for investing.

Markets will rise and fall. Economies will expand and contract. Life itself changes through different seasons. Rather than reacting to short-term headlines, my goal is to help clients build a financial foundation that can weather uncertainty while continuing to grow over time.

The Magnolia Method reminds us to look beyond investment returns. It considers the entire financial picture—retirement, tax planning, estate planning, business succession, and the legacy our clients hope to leave for the next generation.

Looking Ahead

Becoming a Portfolio Manager is an important milestone in my vision of building Grace Wealth into a respected private wealth firm known for thoughtful advice, professional excellence, and unwavering integrity.

Titles may change, but my promise remains the same:

To always do what is right for my clients.

Thank you to every client who has trusted me over the years. Your confidence inspires me to continue learning, growing, and serving you with the care and dedication you deserve.

“Like the magnolia tree, true wealth isn't measured by how it performs in one season. It's built on strong roots, nurtured with patience, and designed to flourish through all four seasons of life.”

Why I'm Starting This Blog

After more than 20 years in the financial planning profession, I've realized that some of the most important conversations I have with clients aren't really about investments.

They're about life.

They're about retirement, family, uncertainty, generosity, health, purpose, and the hope of leaving the next generation better off than the one before.

Many people assume a wealth advisor's job is to recommend investments or build portfolios. While those are certainly important, they are only part of the picture. Behind every financial decision is a person, a family, a story, and often, difficult choices.

Over the years, I've been fortunate to walk alongside clients through career changes, business sales, retirement, the loss of loved ones, inheritances, and the arrival of grandchildren. Each experience has reminded me that financial planning is ultimately about helping people make confident decisions during life's most important moments.

That's why I decided to start this blog.

My goal isn't to predict the stock market or provide sensational headlines. There is already an endless supply of financial news available every day. Instead, I want to share practical insights that help people better understand the decisions they face and the opportunities they may not know exist.

Some articles will explain tax and retirement strategies in plain language. Others will discuss estate planning, investing, or common financial mistakes. Occasionally, I'll share stories from my experience (while always protecting client confidentiality) because I believe real-life situations often teach us the most.

I'll also write about the principles that guide my work.

At Grace Wealth, we use what I call the Magnolia Method. Like a magnolia tree, strong financial health starts with healthy roots, grows through every season of life, and is built to support future generations. It reminds us to look beyond individual investments and instead see the complete financial picture.

If this blog helps even one person make a better financial decision, ask an important question, or approach retirement with greater confidence, then it will have accomplished its purpose.

Thank you for taking the time to read my first post. I look forward to sharing this journey with you and hope you'll find these articles informative, practical, and worth coming back to.
